Marriage Notes

From Michael Tucker comes this story:

They were married on the Wednesday
before Thanksgiving that year. They had their wedding in the morning,
their reception in the afternoon, and in the evening they took the train
from Loyal to Marshfield, all of 20 miles, to go to the silent movies,
with a stop at a local station (Spokeville) along the way. They always
said that that was their honeymoon! When they got home, they had a
group of neighbors to "shivaree" them on their front lawn, and Grandma
had to offer a purse of money to stop their friends and kith and kin
from hooting and hollering congratulations!
