Lived in Lancaster, was killed by the Indians, Feb 10, 1675-6 while in charge of the Rowlandson garrison house. His wife was taken prisoner and their children, either taken prisoner or killed at the same time. Mrs. Divoll was ransomed from the Indians May 1, 1676.     William was taken captive by the Indians when but three years old and carried away from his mother and sister, who were also taken prisoner at the same time (Feb 10, 1675-6), during the destruction of Lancaster. He was ransomed in Portsmuth with his cousin Joseph, son of Rev. Joseph and Mary (White) Rowlandson, as the following petition will show:
