Additional Information

Daniel Pierce:

Notes:

According to the source by Frederic Beech Pierce, "Pierce Genealogy...", 1882

Daniel and his two brothers, Josepn (b. 1749), and Thomas (b.1756) all migrated to St Johnsbury, vermont. Not sure abt St Johnsbury and St Johnsbury Center.

Daniel married in 1766 in Leominster, MA, Mercy Gates, b.1747, Bolton MA,
Josepn
h married in ______ , Margaret Gates, b.1755

Mercy (b.1747 Bolton, MA) and Margaret (b.. 1755) were sisters, children of Paul Gates, a twin, (b.1718) and Submit Howe (b. 1722) (Don't you love those names!) Mercy and Margaret were Granddaughters of cousins margaret Gates (1689) and Daniel Gates (1685). Their ancestry goes back to brothers Simon Gates(1645) and Stephen Gates(1634). Simon and Stephen has a third brother, Thomas Gates (1646) who is related to us on the Stevens side of the family. These three brothers are sons of immigrant ancestors Stephen Gates (1599) and Ann Veare Hill (1602) from Hingham, England.

From "The Gustin and Carlisle Genealogy", by Lester C. Gustin, 1954, Modern Press, Newton, MA:
"(Thos and Ann Gates) came in the ship "Diligent:, of which Capt John Martin was master, and settled in Hingham, MA in 1638. Stephen (1599) brought with him his wife, Ann Veare, born abt 1603, whom he married in Hingham England, together with their daughters Elizabeth and Mary and son Stephen Jr." So Simon and Thomas must have been born here.
