---------Demouth, John (15 APR 1868 – 14 OCT 1913)
John Demouth died at San Jose Co. Hospital, Cal., Oct. 14, 1913. Deceased was born at Hayton, Calumet Co., April 15, 1868; moved to Neillsville, Clark County with his parents in 1871, where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Lillian Barber in 1892. In the year 1903 he moved with his family to Morgan Hill, Cal., where he settled on a fruit ranch, but his health failed and for four years he has been an invalid. He leaves a wife and three small children who still reside at Morgan Hill. He also leaves an aged mother and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Nutting, who reside here, also one brother Samuel of Belfield, N.D. He will be remembered by many as he attended school in Neillsville several terms. He was a man beloved by all who knew him and always proved faithful to his profession, leading an honorable and upright life. Though storms of adversity closed around him, yet his trust was ever in his God. Our sympathy goes out to his invalid wife and helpless children left in destitute circumstances.

    Almeda Dee Filice died Monday in Gilroy. She was 93.

    A native of Wisconsin, she came to Gilroy in 1924 from Morgan Hill. She was a member of Martha's Circle. Mrs. Filice worked in the Filice and Perrelli Cannery until 1965 as the head floor lady, babysat her great-grandchildren until 1985 and was an accomplished seamstress.

    She is survived by her sons, Carmen F. Filice of Gilroy and Stanley G. Filice of Chattanooga, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Gloria Filice of Gilroy; granddaughters, Patti Littlejohn of Gilroy and Toni Rinde of Hollister; grandsons, John Filice of Gilroy and Richard Donaldson of San Diego; four great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel Filice; sister, Verna Luth; great-great-grandson, Ryan Mangano and her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Filice.

    Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. At Habing Family Funeral Home then proceed to St. Mary's Church for mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

    The family would appreciate contributions in her memory to the Father Frank Filice Missionary School Fund, c/o South Valley Bank, 7597 Monterey Rd., Gilroy, CA 95020. Account 0220039826.

    Rites were held in Morgan Hill today for Mrs. Verna P. Luth, 53, former nurse at O'Connor and County hospitals, who died Sunday after a month's illness.
    Services were conducted in Johnson Funeral Home, with interment following in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
    Mrs. Luth, a native of Wisconsin, came to this area more than thirty years ago. Her home was at 456 Mashall Ave.
    After receiving her nurses' training at County Hospital, Mrs. Luth worked there seven years. She was employed at O'Connor when she became ill.
    She leaves her husband, Henry; a son and two daughters, John and Henrietta P. Luth, both of San Jose, and Mrs. Betty Hicks of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Almeda Filice of Gilroy and Mrs. Ruby Erler of Michigan, and four grandchildren.

    RUBY ADELIA ERLER, 91, of Manistee, formerly of Wellston, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She was born on October 13, 1909, in Morgan Hill, Calif., the daughter of John and Lillian (Barber) DeMouth. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of the service. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of Wellston, in Wellston. Interment will be in Freewood Cemetery in the spring. Terwilliger Funeral Home of Kaleva is in charge of the arrangements.
