    LUCY JANETTE MARTINDALE Died, at her home in Christie, Clark County, Mrs. Janette Martindale June 24, 1909, of heart trouble. Mrs. Martindale was an old resident of Clark County, having come from Jefferson Co., N.Y., the home of her birth, between 35 and 40 years ago. She was nearly 68 years old and leaves three sons to mourn her loss, one of who lives in Oregon, one near Belfield, N.D., and the other one is a partner in the Christie store. She was buried in the cemetery Sunday.

    James was born August 10, 1879, the son of Samuel and Lucy Janette (Nutting) Martindale. His father was born in Vermont and is mother was a native of Jefferson Co., New York. Both parents are buried in the Weston East Cemetery which is now known as "Chapel Hill". Lillian (b. 2 May 1886 Neillsville, WI, d. Mar 1969 Portland, Multnomah, OR), the daughter of Hans and Emma Hanson and James were married March 8, 1905 (pg. 5, Vol. 3). James was a restaurant manager and at the time of the 1920 Census, they were managing the Kirby Apt. House on E. Morrison St. in Portland, OR. James died in March, 1965 in Oregon.

    I have a copy of his Utah Death certificate, # 2503486. It lists his name as "Charley A. Martindale", his PDOB as Clark County, Wisconsin on 21 April 1887. His occupation is listed as "Combination Cook" and showed him as unemployed. His address was listed as 49 West Second South, Salt Lake City, UT. He died 16 May 1925. If I read the certificate right, his actual place of death is Echo, Summit, Utah, tho he is buried in Coalville Cemetary, Coalville, UT. Cause of death is listed as "Struck by railroad engine 2257 UPRRCo. Fractured skull and neck-broken-internal injuries.
