Funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Henry (Hattie) Silkey, 72, Neillsville, who died Thursday at the nursing home in Auburndale. The Rev. Virgil Holmes of the Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Town of Weston Cemetery.
The former Hattie Harper was born April 17, 1888, in the Town of Weston, and had been a resident there most of her life. She was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Gayhart) Harper. In 1910 she was married to William Free Raymond, and on October 16, 1924, was married to the late Henry Silkey who died January 9.
She is survived by a daughter, Ethelyn, from her first marriage and by two step-sons, George Silkey, State of Washington, and Ed Silkey, Neillsville; and by a sister, Mrs. Zella Asplin.
Pallbearers were: Ray Ampe, George Scherer, Ervin Silkey, Dale Armitage, Frank Silkey and Robert Armitage.
“The Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God to Thee” were sung by Mrs. Virgil Holmes, accompanied by (the rest of the obit was missing).
