Additional Information

King of England John I, King of England:

Notes:

King John I signed the Magna Carta in 1215. It said the king had to obey the law like everyone else, and that the Lords had a right to replace him if he did not.

While John was king all of the lands in France that his father had reigned over, were lost.

During King John's rein English began its rise as the county's language. Before John French had been the language of royalty.

King John is the evil king in the story of Robin Hood. John was unpopular becaused he taxed everyone to pay for the Third Crusade, but also, it is thought, because he wasnot a very nice person.
