Viola Sorg, 74 dies unexpectedly
Mrs. Howard L. Sorg, 74, of Black Hawk, Rt. 1 Spring Green, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct.24. The former Viola A. Sprecher was born on May 31, 1904, in the Township of Troy. She was married to Mr. Sorg Feb. 20, 1926. The couple had farmed for many years in the township of Troy prior to moving to Black Hawk in 1973.
She was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Black Hawk.
She is survived by: her husband; three sons, Calvin and Fred of rural Spring Green; two daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Joyce) Gasser, Rt. 1, Plain, and Mrs. Robert (June) Sater, of Madison; 27 grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence and Wilbert Sprecher, both of rural Sauk City; and two sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Rosina) McCready of rural Spring Green and Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Hehenberger of Sauk City.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct 27, at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Black Hawk.
Howard "Fred" Sorg, age 71, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22 , 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.
Fred was born on May 17, 1939, the son of the late Howard L. and Viola (Sprecher) Sorg. He was united in marriage to Joyce Quade on June 27, 1959. Fred was employed by Foremost Farms for many years. He enjoyed his hobby farm, working the land, fishing, trapping and cutting wood. His greatest pride was spending time with children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; seven children, Jeff (Chris) of Spring Green, Jenell (Hubert) Bindl of Plain, Jody (Deb) of Burnsville, Minn., Jill (Dee Dee) Sorg of Prairie du Sac, Jay of San Jose, Calif., Jane (Tim) Pagel of Lodi, and Jeremy (Theresa) of Mazomanie; 14 grandchildren; four siblings, Cal (Phyllis) of Sauk City, Joyce (Wilfred) Gasser of Plain, John (Dorothy) of Prairie du Sac, and June (Bob) Sater of Waunakee; two aunts, Ruth Hehenberger of Sauk City, and Marcella Sprecher of Sauk City; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ava Pagel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at BETHLEHEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Black Hawk, with Pastor Kendall Schlittler officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date.
