of Thai-Laotian heritage

email of 2 Nov 2015 from K McGranahan:

"Lian" was my mother and her given name was Nang Chiang
Khammana.  Chiang and Lian sounded close to many Americans so she went by
Lian, pronounced like Lynn.  She was born in Thailand; moved to Laos; met
and married my father in 1966 in Laos.  After Daddy passed away, she
returned to Laos and she passed away in Laos.  She had 2 brothers in
Australia but had never been to Australia herself.

Warren E. PIERCE

1860 Census-daughter Ann, 16, born in NY - daughter Phebee W. , 9, born in Wisc. Indicates Warren Pierce came to Wisconsin after 1844 and before 1851. But he didn't marry Jane til 1849.  Ann must be his daughter from a previous marriage (to Lucy M. Streeter in 1844.)

1860 Census says very clearly that Warren was born in Vermont.
Occupation - "Farmer" -  value of Real estate - $300.00. Value of personal Estate - $200.00.
Also listed in the Warren Pierce household on the 1860 Census is Sarah Willard, age 13, born in NY.
We have determined this is the niece of his wife, Jane.

1850 Census - Waterloo, WI - two of Warren's brothers, George and Abel are listed.
It appears the sister of Abel's wife, Harriet Vanderpool, married Charles Streeter, a probable brother to Warren's 1st wife, Lucy Streeter.

1850Census - Warren is listed in Dane Co, York twsp.
His name is misspelled "Orrin Peirce"
but family gives him away and living next door is Eliza, Jane's sister!

1855 Wi State Census - Jefferson Co., Waterloo, p. 10

According to "A History of Portland" Warren Pierce manufactured pumps.

1 SEP 1857 There is a record of Warren purchasing  40 acres of land in Adams County. I found it on Cyndi's List.com

Conrad HOPLER

http://research.cousinsearchnetwork.com/1314.html
Conrad Hoppler built the first bridge across the Rockaway River at Powerville. It stood a little above the spot where the upper bridge now stands, for the construction in which he received three bushels of salt. The birdge was of rude workmanship, and the salt at that time was worth from $8 to $10 a bushel. Shortly after the Revolution this same Hoppler built a dam across the river just above the bridge, and erected a small grist-mill on the west bank of the river, a few rods below the bridge. This was the first mill of any description erected in Powerville.

At Powerville the Hopler mill was known prior to 1800, and was located above the present mill. In April 1802 Conrad Hopler sold to Joseph Scott, in consideration of $950,19 acres of land and the mills (grist-mill and saw-mill), and on the 4th of March 1804 Joseph Scott sold one-half of this mill property to Benjamin Beach of Horse Pond, and the other half to his son John Scott. Benjamin Beach was the father of Dr. Columbus Beach, and was a large land-owner in and around Beach Glen, where he had a grist-mill. It stood in front of the present dwelling house on Dr. Beach's farm, and about the only visible evidence of its existence is the pond bed extending up the Glen toward Hibernia. This mill was the most convenient one to that part of the township which lies around Hibernia, Egbert's Corner, Greenville and Meriden.

It is believed that one of Frederick's two daughters, Elizabeth or Catherine, married Peter Snyder and inherited the property at Newfoundland where the house, celebrated in the Rockaway Township Bicentennial quilt, is located,  the house where they burned the eight foot logs.

Since Frederick's daughter Elizabeth married Conrad Hopler, Catherine must be the one that married Peter Snyder.
