Elizabeth BRITZIUS

Per Britzius file III p. 4  "On the ship 'Leopard' arriving New York 6 July 1840, departing Europe from Le Havre, were Jacob Britzius born 1788, Catharina Britzius born 1813, Jacob born 1820, 'Dewold' (Theobald) born 1821, and Lisbeth born 1823. . . Jakob Britzius lost his wife, Katarina Elizabeth Schwartz, in Bisterschied in 1838.  Two years later he emigrated (we learn from above record) with four of his children including 20 - year old Theobald, who later married Christine Elizabeth Maurer. . .also young Jakob Britzius, 16, who later married Catherine Wasem.  The ship's record lists the family as coming from 'Bavaria.'"

Jacob and his sister Catherine married brother and sister of the Wasem family. Heinrich Jacob Wasem and Catherine Elizabeth Wasem were brother and sister, children of Johann Heinrich and Charlotta Catharina Spitz Wasem who came from Teschmoschel, Pfalz about the same time as our Britzius family.

Joseph Burpee STEVENS

Carol writes the following about Burpee:  " Burpee (Burpie)Stevens b 1846 was my great grandfather. His name was Joseph Burpee but he was known as Burpee....There was another Burpee Stevens b abt 1873. He lived in Brookfield. Nova Scotia. It would be interesting to know who he was a descendant of. I have been told that both Burpee and his brother John L had red hair. I have 2 sisters and a brother all with red hair. No one else in the family has red hair. Burpee's son Howard b 1878 is my grandfather."

Charles Wesley BRITZIUS

Who's Who in Engineering. Seventh edition, 1988. Edited by Gordon Davis. Washington, DC: American Association of Engineering Societies, 1988. (WhoEng 7)

In a posting of an obituary for Robert F. Post, mechanical and hydraulics engineer, the following sentence appears:  "and was honored with the Charles W. Britzius Lifetime Achievement Award."

This from Google: Charles W. Britzius Distinguished Engineer Award
This award is designed to recognize outstanding lifetime achievements in the practice of engineering, contributions to the engineering profession, and actions enhancing the image of engineering in our society. Charles W. Britzius is the epitome of the distinguished engineer, having excelled in all three areas recognized by the award: he was the founder of Twin City Testing, Inc.; was a long-time contributor to MSPE and ASCE; served as mayor of Deephaven; and was a tireless supporter of numerous professional and civic causes.
The above was found on a site entitled: "Minnesota Federation of Engineering, Science, and Technology Societies
