1Forrest Zimmerman, Zimmerman Family Tree, Personal files of Dianne Z. Stevens, 1301 Reetz Road, Madison, WI 53711. One night about 1958, Dianne had been asking her dad about the Zimmerman family. Forrest got out a large piece of drafting paper and methodically laid out the whole family beginning with Christian Zimmerman and Elizabeth Kneil, Forrest's great-grandfather. The tree covers five generations. There are a few blanks. Apparently they didn't keep up too well with the family of Forrest's great-uncle, Henry Zimmerman. There are 175 names on the tree. Forrest drew it from memory. The funny part is this. Forrest never wanted to have anything to do with his cousins. Dianne only remembers meeting one of them ever.

In 1861, with four of his sons, he enlisted in the Civil War in which he and his stepson Elijah lost their lives. Sauk City - Phyllis Sorg,age 83, of Sauk City, passed away April 26, 2013 at Meadows Health in Spring Green.
She was born Nov. 9, 1929, the daughter 0f the late Frank and Hulda (Braun) Kaufman. She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and in 1950 she was married to Calvin Sorg. She was employed at Oscar Mayer for five years and after raising her family she was employed as a nurse's aide at Maplewood for 17 years. After retirement she and Cal enjoyed many trips, including three to Europe. Phyllis was a big sports fan for the MIlwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers and Badger sports. In her younger years she was a very good golfer. One years she was named the most improved lady glfer at Lake Wisconsin.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin: five daughters, Terri Sorg (Jeff Eden), Jackie Barman (Tom), Chris Maly (Charlie), Lisa Anderson (Paul), and Lori Sorg (Braig Temple); eight grandchildren, Rocky (Heather), and Rochelle Denu, Nick (Krystlel), Eddy and Andy Barman, Russell and Casey Maly, and Erin Burzynski; four great-grandchildren, Breanna, Slater and Sawyer Denu, and Clavin Barman; a sister, Marie Wenzel; other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; three brothers,Cliff, Lyle and Dale; and a sister, Betty.
A memorial service will be held at First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. A visitation will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013."
