Mr. Floyd A. Braden, age 93, of Beach, North Dakota died at St. Benedict's Nursing Home in Dickinson, North Dakota on Monday, October 14, 2013.
Visitation Will be 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 18, 2013 in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beach with Rev. Scott Hojnacki officiating. Interment will follow at the Beach Lutheran Cemetery.
Floyd was born on May 24, 1920 at Quinion, North Dakota the son of William and Winifred (Pierce) Braden. Floyd attended the Neuens Country School north of Medora and later the Fryburg Schools near Fryberg, North Dakota.
In his early years Floyd worked on the railroad and was in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) from 1937 to 1939. In 1939 he went to Seattle, Washington to work in a wire rope factory.
Floyd was called by the United States Army during WWII entering on August 3, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. During his three and one half years of duty, he attained the rank of Tec 5. Floyd served in Germany, France, Belgium, Holland and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1945 at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas.
After being discharged from the United States Army Floyd returned to Beach where he married Ida Wojahn on January 22, 1948. Floyd and Ida continued to live in Beach where they raised their family. He started working for the City of Beach in 1954 where he worked for thirty-two years until retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, Floyd remained active helping the city until 2007. During his many years of service to the city he received many awards which included: Employee of the Year, Key to the City and many others. He was a long time member of the Beach American Legion Club and very active in the Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Floyd was a member of the planning committee that erected the Veterans Memorial. He maintained the grounds and flowers there from the time it was built until 2010, as he was very particular about how the monument and the park looked.
Floyd's best times were spent dancing with his wife and playing on the floor with his grandchildren showing them his trains. He was known as grandpa fixer because he fixed everything for them. Floyd was a man of many talents there weren't many things he couldn't do. He will be missed by all.
Floyd was preceded in death by one son, Dale Braden on March 31, 1974; four brothers and three sisters.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ida, of Beach; one son, Gary Braden and his wife Swenda of Beach; three grandchildren, Tara Losinski and her husband Walter and their children Teresa, Tyler and Trevor, Mike Braden and his wife Jess and their children Alyvia, Eliza and Bennett and Trisha Bishop and her husband Bart and their children Dawson, Seth, Acelynn, Jade and Jayce all of Beach and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ida E. Braden, age 95, of Beach, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Silha Funeral Home in Beach. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beach with Reverend James Hageman officiating. Interment will follow in the
Beach Lutheran Cemetery in Beach. Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Ida was born on January 7, 1919 in Rural Wibaux County, Montana, a daughter of Gustav Adolph and Albertina Wilhelmina (Stolp) Wojahn. She attended the Jordan Country School two and a half miles from her parents' home. She attended there for four years until her parents moved the children to Wibaux where she finished grade school and high school, graduating with the class of 1937. Ida then helped the teacher at the same country school with all eight grades. She spent a lot of time helping on the family farm with the farm work. Ida and her sister went to Vancouver, Washington and worked at Kaiser Ship Yards as welders and burners during World War II and was able to watch Eleanor Roosevelt christen one of the ships they helped build. Ida returned home and worked at Miller's Grocery Store and Dickinson's Store, both of Beach. On January 22, 1948 Ida married the love of her life, Floyd Braden at her parents' home southeast of Wibaux. To this union two sons were born.
Ida enjoyed being active and helping others. She was a cook for a total of twenty-one years at Grandma's Kitchen, Charlie's Café and Tom's Place under three different owners. She helped her son at B's Catering for ten years, Golden Valley Manor for three years and worked part-time at the legion for ten years. Ida was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Women's Missionary League for over forty years serving as President and Secretary; and was also a member of God's Willing Workers Circle and the Altar Guild. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang alto in the choir for over sixty years, directed the children's choir for over nine years and was the church janitor. She was a member of Pep and Progress Home Makers Club and the Legion Auxiliary for over twenty-five years. Ida also fixed hair at the Manor for many years.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 2013; two sons, Dale Braden in 1974 and Gary Braden in 2014; one granddaughter, Theresa Braden in 1975; five brothers and four sisters.
Ida is survived by her daughter-in-law, Swenda Braden of Beach; three grandchildren, Tara Losinski and her husband Walter and their children Teresa, Tyler and Trevor, Mike Braden and his wife Jess and their children Alyvia, Eliza and Bennett, and Trisha Bishop and her husband Bart and their children Dawson, Seth, Acelynn, Jade and Jayce all of Beach and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary L. Braden, age 65, of Beach, North Dakota passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday May 27, 2014 in the chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 P.M on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. John The Baptist Catholic church in Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the church with Rev. Fr. Dan Berg officiating. Interment will follow services at the Beach Lutheran Cemetery with Rev. Scott Hojnacki officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
Gary was born May 22, 1949 in Beach, a son of Floyd and Ida (Wojahn) Braden. He was raised and educated in Beach graduating from Beach High School with the class of 1967. After high school Gary attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton where he graduated with a two year degree in mechanics. After college, Gary, came back to Beach where he married his high school sweet heart, Swenda Thorson, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church on April 24, 1971. To this union three daughters and one son were born. One daughter passed away in infancy.
Gary worked at many jobs during his life. One of his biggest passions was firefighting. He loved being on the fire line with his fellow firefighters. He worked as a firefighter at several locations in Montana as well as being the fire chief for the local firefighters for many years. Gary was an entrepreneur and operated the Tenth Hole Supper Club in Beach and B's Catering for several years. He was known for his barbecues, especially whole hogs and his special barbecue sauce. During the past three years he enjoyed working at Home On The Range at Sentinel Butte, North Dakota.
Gary enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing with his grandchildren and camping. His favorite holiday was the fourth of July. He loved anything that made a loud noise like fireworks, his potato gun and other homemade devices. Gary was a prankster and no one was safe from his pranks. He was very generous with his time and talents with everyone. Gary was a family man and always enjoyed being with them especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Floyd; one brother, Dale and an infant daughter Theresa.
Gary is survived by his wife Swenda; daughters Tara Losinski (Walter) and their children, Teresa, Tyler and Trevor, Daughter, Trish Bishop (Bart) and their children Jade, Jayce, Dawson, Seth and Acelynn; son Mike Braden (Jess) and their children Alyvia, Eliza and Bennett, all of Beach. He is also survived by his mother, Ida*(Wojahn) Braden, of Dickinson, North Dakota.
