In the name of God Amen Ao Dni 1604 Annoq dni nri Jacobi dei gra Angli ffranc et Hibin Regis fidei deffenser &C secundo et Scotie tricesimo septimo I John Taylecott of Branktrye in the countie of Essex pewterer being att this tyme sike in bodye butt of goode sounde & pfect memorye sence & mynde I thanke & prayse almyghtye god for ytt well waygheng the incerteyne & frayle estate of this mortall & myserrable lyfe do herby & herin ordeyne & make my x'sent testament & last wyll in manner & forme followyng that is to saye Inprimis I do comend & comytt my soule into the handes & tuycon of the almyghtie god my creator & redeemor & my bodye to be buryed in xtian Buryall where itt shall please almightie god to take my lyfe from me by & att the discretion of my executrix herafter named Item I doe gyve unto the poore people of the pisshe of Branktrye twenty shillings of lawfull monye of England to be payde to & amongst them wthin one moneth next after my decease by my executrix herafternamed Item I wyll devyse & bequeath all that my messuage or ten't wherein I nowe dwell with the yards gardens & apptern'es to the same belonging as they nowe are in my occupacon set & being in Branktrye aforeseyd unto Anne my wyfe for & during the holle terme of her naturall lyfe & from & after the decease of the seyd Anne my seyd wyfe I wyll devyse & bequeath all that my aforemenconed messuage or ten't with the yards & gardens & other appten'nce thereonto belonging as they nowe are in my tenure or occupacon unto John Taylecotte my sonne & to his heyres of his bodye lawfullie begotten forever & for want of such yssue to remayne to the right & next heyre of me the seyd John Taylecott first named for ever Item I wyll & devyse all that my ten’t with the yards gardens axptrments thereunto belonging in Branktrye aforeseyd as the same now are in the tenure or occupacon of one Barnabe Boltell tayler or of his assynes unto Anne my seyd wyfe & to her assignes for & during the ffulle terme of twenty yeeres from the daye of my deathe & from thense next to come & fully then to end & from upon & after the determynacon of the same terme of twenty yeeres I do devyse give & bequeath all my seyd ten’t wth the seyd yard & gardens & appternents to the seyd ten’t belonging as they nowe are in the tenure or occupacon of the seyd Barnabe Boltell or of his assignes unto Rachell Taylecott my daughter & to the heyres of her bodye lawfullye to be begotten for ever & for wante of suche Issue to & amongest all the resydewe of my dawythers that shall happen to survyve the seyd Rachell & to theire heyres of theire bodyes lawfullye to be begotten for ever & for wante of such yssue to John Taylecote my sonne & to his heyres of his bodye for ever & for wante of such yssue to revertt to the ryght & next heyres of me the seyd John Taylecote for ever Item I do give unto John Taylecote my sonne & to Anne Taylecote Marye Taylcotte Grace Taylecott & Sara Taylecote my daughters to everye of them ffortye pounds apeece of lawfull monye of England to be payd to them sev’allye att theire sev’all accomplyshmente of theire sev’all ages of one and twentie yeers yf they shall so longe fortune to lyve & in case anye of them shall fortune to dye before the receipt of there seyd legacye of ffortye pounds that then I wylle devyse & bequeath the porcon of hym her or them so dyeng of fortie poundes to & amongest all the resydeoue of my dawghters whatsoever which shall fortune to survyve to be payd & apporconed & devyded amongest them all theire se’rall ages of oneandtwentieyeeres Item I do gyve unto John Taylcott my seyd sonne my best bedstedle standing in my plor next my halle with my best ffeather bedd lyeng upon the same my best rugge & my best fflocke bedd my best valiance & hangings to the same my best coverlett my best ffeather bolster my best fflocke bolster a payre of my best blanketts a payer of my best sheets twooe of my best pillowes wth twooe of my best pillowebeeres to the same my booke of Martirs & my booke entytuled by the name of Mr Rogers Booke to be delyv’ed unto hym by the executors adm’res or assgns of Anne my seyd wyfe wthn one moneth next after her deceasse and she during her lyfe to have the necessirye usyng therof wthoute alteryng the ppertie otherthan is herby intended Item I do in lyke manner gyve & bequeath my Joyned table wth the frame & benchborde & sixe joyned stooles in the seyd plor & all the waynscotte seelinge settles glasses & wyndowes & hangings nowe fixed used or imployed as ppertie belonging to the howse & the greate chest in the seyd plour unto John my seyd sonne to be delyvered to hym by the executors adm’res or assignes of the seyd Anne my seyd wyfe wthin one moneth next after the deceasse of the seyd Anne my seyd wyfe & she to have the necessirye use of them duryng her lyfe nott alteryng the ppertye of them or anye of them Item I do gyve unto everye of my chyldren one Brasse Potte apeece of the wayght of sixteene pounds twooe kettles apeece thone of ev’ye of them to conteyne in measure ffyve gallons the other of them to conteyne in measure three gallons xii pewter dyshes apeece of three sev’all sortible sizes Conteynyng ev’ye xii dishes ffyve and twentie pounds in wayghte or above to be delyv’ed unto them severallye att theire sev’all ages of xxi th yeeres or to so manye of them as shall lyve to atteyne to that age by my executrix herafter named Itm I do gyve to Anne Taylcott my dawghter all that my standing bedstedle standing in my chamber over my halle furnished as itt nowe standeth that is to saye having a ffeatherbedd a fflockebedd a feather bolster a fflocke bolster a p’ of blanketts a coverlett twooe pillowes twooe pillow beeres & a p’ of sheets nowe used upon the same to be delyvered unto the seyd Anne Taylecote my seyd dawghter att suche tyme as she the seyd Anne shall accomplysh the fulle age of xxi th yeeres by my executrix herafter named Itm I do gyve & bequeath unto Marye Taylecott my dawghter my standing bedstedle standing in the chamber over my kytchng where I nowe dwell & all the bedding & ffirnyture as ytt nowe standeth having a ffeather bed & other apptennces & also a p’ of sheetes & a pillowebeere to be delyvered unto her att the accomplyshmente of her age of xxi th yeeres by my executrix herafter named Itm I do gyve unto Grace Taylecote my dawghter one Bedstedle wth a fflockebed & all thinges therunto appteynyng to be delvi’ed to her att her age of xxi th yeeres by my executrix or her assignes Itm I do gyve unto Anne of all & ev’ye my legacyes herin gyven by her to be pformed according to the trewe meanyng herof & that in case she shall fortune to marrye agayne that before her suche marryage shee shall enter into sufficent bond in ffower hundreth poundes wth one sufficient suretye that my seyd ffather in lawe Wyllm Skynner & Robrtt Taylcott my brother shall lyke of the same Wyllm Skynner & Robrtt Taylecott
