CSB Game Files
The following files are used by CSBwin when running Chaos Strikes Back:
- CSBwin.exe (or CSBwinCE for the PocketPC). - This is
the program itself.
- config.txt - This file is optional. It defines keyboard
shortcuts for attacks, spellcasting, movement, and champion
selection. It can also define different arrangements of the video
screen, although this feature is seldom used.
- dungeon.dat - This is a single-level dungeon in which you begin
the game and select your Champions. Commonly called "The
Prison". After selecting your Champions, you save the game and
incorporate your Champions into the main dungeon (mini.dat) using the
"UTILITY" feature of the program.
- mini.dat - This is the main dungeon of Chaos Strikes Back.
It contains no champions. You must first select your Champions
from the "Prison" and then bring them into this main dungeon with the
program's "UTILITY" function.
- graphics.dat - This file contains all the pictures used in the
dungeon. It also contains parameters for monster artifcial
intelligence and other characteristics of the game. Some people
have very successfully edited this file to change the look and feel of
the dungeon.
- hcsb.dat and hcsb.hct - These files contain hints for completing
Chaos Strikes Back. They are optional and are only used when you
request hints using the "Hint Oracle" program function.
